…being selected as part of Team USA two times; first, in the 2000 Olympics where Team USA captured Gold, and again in 2006 on the qualifying team for the 2008 Olympics. Mike retired from playing baseball in 2008 and began his coaching career, both in youth sports and eventually professional baseball.
Mike has been fortunate enough to train and rehabilitate from various injuries with some of the best coaches and fitness professionals in the business. He took bits and pieces along the way to establish his own workout programs. It was over five years ago that his long- established programs were thrown by the wayside due to his discovery of CrossFit.
He was urged to try CrossFit by a co-worker and was hooked from the get-go. Due to the nature of his then career, he was able to travel and drop-in at various Boxes around the country. As he progressed he started to see gains in strength, endurance, mobility, and most importantly, a decrease in overall pain, that he had never experienced with any other fitness program. He believed so much in this new-found fitness philosophy that he made the decision to switch his coaching hat from baseball to CrossFit.
Coach Mike’s CrossFit philosophies center around form first, then consistency, and finally pushing intensity. He has four sons who are often around the gym. Mike is proud to be able to get them involved in his programming from an early age to learn good health and fitness habits.
Coach Mike is thankful to have the Pullman CrossFit Community join him in the goal of improving fitness and quality of life.
